Houghton posed little threat to Walsh as the Cavaliers raced out a 13-2 lead and never looked back as they won 78-45 Tuesday evening. The Cavs (13-3, 4-1) had five players score in double-figures while allowing Houghton (7-8, 0-2) to shoot 37.5% from the field.

Walsh led throughout the game with the Highlanders getting no closer than five points in the second half. After a basket by Houghton with 13:20 to go in the second half made the score 41-36, Walsh went on a 29-5 run to make the score 70-41 and put the game out of reach.

Ryan Vanderhorst (So., 6-3, New Knoxville, OH/HS) led the Cavaliers’ attack with 15 points off the bench on 5-8 shooting including 4-6 from beyond the arc. Cameron Mitchell (So., 6-4, Cincinnati, OH/Taft) added 13 points on 6-12 shooting from the field while also pulling down six rebounds and making four steals. Rounding out the double-figure scorers for Walsh were L.J. Sutton (Sr., 6-7, Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) with 12 points and seven rebounds, Brad DuPont (So., 6-0, Massillon, OH/Jackson/Wheeling Jesuit) with 11 points, and Rian Burrell (Fr., 6-3, Zanesville, OH/HS) with 11 points.

The Cavs return home Saturday for a game with Roberts Wesleyan College. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
