1.10.14 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Look for Weekend Split on Saturday vs. Ferris State

Walsh (5-7, 1-6) lost its third straight game on Thursday night, falling 82-71 to Grand Valley State University (8-3, 6-1) in a GLIAC contest at Alumni Arena. The Cavs look to get back into the win column on Saturday when they host Ferris State University (3-6, 3-4) in a GLIAC tilt. The game will be broadcast live on TEAMLINE.
GVSU GAME: Walsh came out of the starting blocks hot for the second straight game, scoring the first five points, and held leads of 7-5, and their last lead at 13-12. Poor shooting doomed the Cavs in the first half, as they shot just 25% (8-32), but still trailed by just eight points (37-29) at the half. Grand Valley increased the lead to double digits for good at 44-33, and never looked back in posting the win. In her first start of the season, Rachel Trujillo scored a career-high 18 points, connecting on 13-14 from the four line. Jalynn Graham and Tara Gallupe tallied 17 points each. For Gallupe, it was her first start of the season. She also led Walsh with seven rebounds. The Cavs shot 83% from the charity stripe on 25-30.
