1.13.14 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Five Cavs Named to All-OCSA Academic Team

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association has announced its Academic All-Ohio Team and five Cavaliers have been selected. Leading the way once again is Jessie Gearhart (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS) who was selected to the first time. Lauren Jokovich (Sr., Canton, OH/Jackson) was a second team selection, while Olivia Buttery (Sr., Canton, OH/Jackson), Rachel Rucker (Sr., Uniontown, OH/Lake), and Lauren Frank (Jr., Copley, OH/HS) were named to the third team.
Gearhart was an integral part of the team’s chemistry in 2013. The 5-9 forward turned midfielder led the team in all major offensive categories with five goals and four assists for 14 points. Gearhart started in all 18 games for the Cavs this season. Walsh was 3-1-2 in games that she recorded either a goal or an assist.
Jokovich was one of the team captains this season and scored two goals and two assists as a midfielder that started every game in 2013. Both of her goals came on penalty kick situations. One of them was the only goal in a shutout victory of Malone on September 12. She also assisted in a game-tying goal at Ohio Valley and a game-winning goal at Tiffin.
Buttery and Frank were defenders while Rucker was a midfielder on the team. Buttery started all 18 games this season and scored a goal and an assist on the year. Frank played in 17 games and started 11. The duo were important parts of a new backline for the Cavs that recorded five shutouts on the season. Rucker also played in 17 games with 11 starts. She scored one goal and two assists in a three-game stretch in October in which Walsh went 2-0-1.
Walsh finished the 2013 campaign with a 6-9-3 record.
