1.17.12 MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Rout Wildcats

(North Canton, OH) Walsh (15-3, 6-1) led from start to finish in routing Daemen College (11-9, 4-1) 76-51 in an American Mideast Conference game.  The win was the third straight for the Cavs and the first loss for Daemen in conference play.  Walsh is back in action on Thursday, as they travel to Malone University in the annual Mayors’ Cup game.  Tip-off is 7:30 pm.  The game will be broadcast live on NewsTalk 640 AM WHLO.

Walsh jumped to leads of 5-0 and 10-2 in the rout of the Wildcats.  Despite shooting just 42% from the floor in the first half, the Cavs built a halftime lead of 37-20. 

Walsh found their touch from the floor in the second half, shooting 55% (18-33) from the field and led by as many as 36 points.

Ron Kinney (6-7, Sr. Cleveland, OH/Rhodes) led the balanced Cavs’ attack with 17 points.  Rian Burrell (6-3, Fr. Zanesville, OH/HS) added 14 points, 12 in the second half.  L. J. Sutton (6-7, Sr., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) chipped in 12 points and Cameron Mitchell (6-4, So. Cincinnati, OH/Taft) 11.  Jeff Copeland (6-5, Fr. Toledo, OH/St. John’s Jesuit) added eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds off the bench.
