1.24.12 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Coast to Win at Wilberforce

Everybody played and scored in Walsh’s 99-54 route of hosting Wilberforce in an AMC clash Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers (10-11, 6-3) controlled throughout the game and led the Bulldogs 49-29 (3-14, 2-5) at the half.
The two teams were tied at 15-15 with 11:56 to play in the first half until Walsh went on a 16-1 run to make the score 31-16 and never looked back. The Cavs carried the momentum through halftime as they scored the first 12 points of the second half. Walsh led by as many as 44.
Megan Hogg (Fr., 6-0, Waukee, IA/HS/NW Missouri State) continued her strong play as she led all scorers with a game-high 14 points on 5-10 shooting with a pair of blocks. Daniella Ciccarone (So., 5-8, Quakertown, PA/Community Senior) scored 12 points on 5-8 from the field. Others scoring in double-figures included Maggie Berry (So., 6-0, Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph) with 11 points, Tara Gallupe (So., 6-0, Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) with 10 points, and Emily Taylor (Fr., 5-6, Elyria, OH/Elyria Catholic) with 10 points. Gallupe added four steals.
Walsh out-rebounded the Bulldogs 56-31 with Whitney Dabbelt (Fr., 6-1, West Carrollton, OH/Arch Bishop Alter) crashing the boards the most with 10 caroms. Overall, the Cavaliers shot 52.1 percent from the field while limiting Wilberforce to 33.3 percent.
The Cavs are off until Saturday when they entertain visiting Houghton in another conference showdown. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
