(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) - Stephanie Foster became the first student-athlete at Walsh to qualify for an NCAA national championship after winning the pole vault this evening at the Youngstown State Invitational . Foster (Sr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) had a best height of 4.00 meters, or 13-01.5. Her mark automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Foster defeated over 20 opponents, many of which came from Division I schools such as West Virginia University, Virginia Military Institute, and Youngstown State. Her closest competitor finished second place by six inches.

Kendra Britzman (So., Canton, OH/South) also had an impressive day as she broke the school record in the weight throw. Her best distance was 13.35 meters, or 43-9.5. Britzman’s mark shattered the previous record of 37-7 set by Penny Roberts in 1999.

Walsh will next be in action at the SPIRE Midwest Open in Geneva on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, March 1.
