Women's Track & Field, 2014-01-29

(BAY CITY, Mich.) – Stephanie Foster (Sr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) has been selected the GLIAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week after an impressive performance at the Youngstown State Invitational this past Friday. Foster not only won the event, but she also became the first Cavalier to qualify for an NCAA national championship.

Foster won the event with a jump of 4.00 meters, or 13 feet 1.5 inches. Her mark automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Championships which will be held in Salem, N.C., on Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15. Foster defeated over 20 opponents, many of which came from Division I schools such as West Virginia University, Virginia Military Institute, and Youngstown State. Her closest competitor finished second place by six inches.

Foster and the Cavaliers will next be in action at the SPIRE Midwest Open this weekend in Geneva.
