1.3.12 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Fall in Conference Clash at Point Park

Walsh fell to hosting Point Park University by a 54-47 score Tuesday afternoon in an American Mideast Conference showdown. The Cavaliers (6-8, 3-1) lost their first conference game in four tries while the Pioneers (10-4, 1-0) were playing in their conference opener.
The two squads battled back and forth for the first half of play as they exchanged the lead five times and were tied on nine different occasions. No one led by more than three points in the first half that ended with the Pioneers up 26-25.
Point Park never relenquished the lead for the remainder of the game. The closest Walsh came the rest of the way was when Kristi Yoder (Sr., 6-1, Millersburg, OH/Hiland) scored on a layup to bring the Cavs within one at 45-44 with 5:57 to play. Yoder tied two other players for a game-high 14 points and recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds. Tracy Payne (Jr., 5-5, Danville, OH/HS/Notre Dame College) also scored 14 points.
The Cavs are off until Saturday when they travel to New York to battle Daemen in an AMC contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
