1.3.13 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Payne Scores 23 in Loss at Grand Valley

(Allendale, MI) Despite a game-high 23 points from Tracy Payne (5-5, Sr., Danville, OH/HS), Walsh (4-6, 1-5) fell 84-52 to Grand Valley State University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game tonight.  The Cavs will try to snap a two-game losing streak at Ferris State University on Saturday at 3 pm.  The game will be broadcast live on 95.9 WNPQ.

Walsh shot just 39% from the floor in the first half trailed 41-27 at the break.  After falling behind 6-0, Walsh ran off six straight points for the games only tie.  Grand Valley answered with a 7-0 run to take control.

The Cavs closed to within nine points (48-38) early the second half, but fell victim to another Laker run (12-0) which put the game away.

Payne finished 10-17 from the floor and was the only Cavalier in double figures.  Maggie Berry (6-0, Jr., Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph) paced the Cavs with six rebounds.
