1.5.13 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Ferris State Defeats Walsh 77-59

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Walsh dropped its third consecutive contest after falling to Ferris State by a score of 77-59 this afternoon. The Cavaliers now fall to 4-7 overall and 1-6 in the conference. The Bulldogs are now 8-3 overall and 7-1 in the conference.
Ferris State led for the majority of the game. The Cavs’ only lead came at 10-9 following a layup by Maggie Berry (Jr., 6-0, Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph) with 13:35 remaining in the first half. The Bulldogs regained the lead a minute later and held it for the remainder of the game. The last time Walsh came within a single possession of tying the game came at 28-25 after a 3-pointer by Berry, who led the team with 21 points and seven rebounds.
Lydia Corle (Fr., 5-9, North Canton, OH/Green) and Tracy Payne (Sr., 5-5, Danville, OH/HS/Notre Dame College) also reached double-figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Walsh returns to Alumni Arena with games against Ashland and Lake Erie this week. The Cavaliers host the Eagles on Thursday at 8 p.m. They will then host the Storm on Saturday, whiteout t-shirt giveaway day, at 3 p.m. Both games follow the men’s games and will be live on 95.9 WNPQ and Teamline.
