1.7.12 MEN'S BASKETBALL: Daemen Gives Cavs First Conference Loss

(Amherst, N.Y.) - Walsh fell to Daemen College in men’s basketball action by a score of 80-73 in American Mideast Conference action Saturday afternoon. It’s the first conference defeat for the Cavaliers (12-3, 3-1), while the Wildcats (9-8, 2-0) remain unbeaten in the early portion of the conference schedule.
The Cavaliers led for most of the game and as late as 1:45 remaining in the game. However, Daemen closed out the game by going on a 14-2 run with eight points coming from the foul line.
Ron Kinney (Sr., 6-7, Cleveland, OH/Rhodes) led the Cavs with a game-high 21 points. L.J. Sutton (Sr., 6-7, Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) recorded a double-double as he score 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Others scoring in double-digits for the Cavaliers were Brad DuPont (So., 6-0, Massillon, OH/Jackson/Wheeling Jesuit) and Rian Burrell (Fr., 6-3, Zanesville, OH/HS) with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Walsh returns to upstate New York on Tuesday at Houghton. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
