(Amherst, N.Y.) - Walsh fell 66-47 to NAIA No. 23 Daemen in an American Mideast Conference showdown Saturday afternoon in upstate New York. It was the fifth consecutive loss for the Cavaliers (6-9, 3-2). The Wildcats (12-4, 3-0) snapped a three-game losing skid.
The Cavaliers (6-9, 3-2) led by as many as 10 after a 16-2 run midway through the first half, but the Wildcats (13-4, 3-0) battled back to take a one-point 30-29 lead heading into the halftime break. Daemen never trailed in the second half. The 'Cats pushed their lead to double digits just over four minutes into the second stanza lead by as many as 23.
Kristi Yoder (Sr., 6-1, Millersburg, OH/Hiland), Tracy Payne (Jr., 5-5, Danville, OH/HS/Notre Dame College), and Maggie Berry (So., 6-0, Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph) paced the Cavaliers with nine points each.
Walsh returns to action on Tuesday evening with another trip to New York when the Cavs take on the Houghton Highlanders.
