Women's Soccer, 2012-10-11

Walsh was only able to get a couple of shots on goal in its game against Cedarville, but one counted in the most important way as it gave the Cavaliers a 1-0 win Thursday evening. The Cavs are now 6-4-2 on the season and have won all six contests via shutout. The Yellow Jackets drop to 4-8-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Maroon and Gold finally was able to get a shot on target midway through the second stanza. Jessie Gearhart (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) scored the game's only goal on a rebound off a shot from Kristen Conti (Fr., 5-8, Hartville, OH/Lake) at 65:30. The Cavs’ stout defense made the lone marker stand.

Taylor Stano (Fr., 5-7, Massillon, OH/Jackson) recorded the win in goal for the Cavaliers. She faced 12 shots on the night and made six saves, including five in the pressure-filled second half.

The Cavaliers return to action Saturday night with a conference game against rival Malone. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
