10.12.11 WOMEN'S GOLF: Cavs Best Mount Union by Five Strokes; Win Phipps Memorial

Walsh improved to 40-9 this fall by winning the Phipps Memorial at Congress Lakes Country Club today. The Cavs shot 352 and finished five strokes ahead of second place University of Mount Union (357) and 55 strokes better than third place Malone University (407). The Cavs close the fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the University of Akron's Zippy Classic.

Abbey Kimar (Sr., Canton, OH/Jackson) (45-39) and Katie Kohut (Jr., Twinsburg, OH/Walsh Jesuit) (42-42) shot 84 to pace the Cavs with a second place finish. Amanda Griffin (Fr., TAllmadage, OH/HS) finished fourth after carding an 87 (45-42), Kelsey Ozanich (Jr., Warren, OH/Howland) tied for eighth with a 97 (50-47) and Morgan Jackson (Fr., Unointown, OH/Green) finished 12th (48-52/100).
