10.13.13 MEN'S SOCCER: Cards Shutout Cavs 4-0

Men's Soccer, 2013-10-13

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The rain poured down on Walsh figuratively and literally as the Maroon and Gold were downed by a tough Saginaw Valley State squad 4-0. The Cavaliers are now 4-7 overall and 4-5 in the conference. The Cardinals improve to 8-2-2  overall and 6-1-1 in the conference.

Both teams had opportunities to score early on but Saginaw Valley struck first as Walsh attempted to clear the ball. Mitch Reinhart was able to intercept a header by the Cavs and one-timed it into the net at 17:03. The game remained 1-0 until Taylor Clarke scored on an assist from Lachlan Savage with fewer than five minutes left in the first half. The Cards added another pair of goals in the second half for the 4-0 clean sheet.

The Cavs return to action a week from today when they host Findlay. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
