10.13.13 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Ball Bounces Other Way For Cavs in Double-OT Defeat

Women's Soccer, 2013-10-13

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Walsh fell in a hard-fought 1-0 double-overtime decision to visiting Ashland on a cloudy Sunday afternoon at Milazzo Field. The Cavaliers (3-8-1, 0-7) are still searching for their first conference win. The Eagles (6-3-2, 5-2-1) have now won four straight and haven’t lost in their past six games.

The golden goal came early in the second overtime period. Ashland’s Kelly Krispinsky was driving up the right side and fired a shot on goal at Michaella Stucky (So., 5-5, Medina, OH/HS). Stucky was able to make a diving save, but couldn’t hold onto the ball as it bounced back out on the opposite side of the goal. Allison Richards was there waiting for it and put the ball into the back of the net.

Stucky was strong in goal overall on the day as she made nine saves on 16 shots faced.

Walsh will close out the three-game home stand with a non-conference matchup against Ursuline College this Thursday. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
