10.14.12 WOMEN'S TENNIS: Cavs end GLIAC Schedule on Good Note with Win Against Findlay

Walsh ended the fall season and the conference portion of the schedule on a good note with an 8-1 win against visiting Findlay on Sunday. The Cavaliers (3-11, 3-11) swept the doubles contests and won five of six singles contests against the Oilers (2-11, 1-11).
The Cavaliers’ doubles teams all won easily as only Findlay’s third doubles team won a game. Shellie Webster (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) and Kayla Shaheen (Sr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) played at first doubles and won 8-0. Alisha Angle (So., Lexington, OH/HS) and Allison St. George (Sr., Boardman, OH/Cardinal Mooney) paired once again at second doubles and also won 8-0. Mary-Catherine Beck (Sr., Alliance, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) and Arina Kravitz (Fr., Youngstown, OH/Boardman) won at third doubles 8-1.
Webster also won at first singles by scores of 6-3, 6-1. Angle won 6-4, 6-2 at second singles, Shaheen won 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles, and Kravitz won 6-1, 6-1 at sixth singles to provide the Cavaliers with their other five points.
Beck was playing in her final collegiate tennis match and won 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles. She went 7-7 during the season with all matches being played at fifth singles.
The Cavs are now off for the winter season and will return to action in the spring season with non-conference opponents. First up will be Edinboro on Friday, February 22. It will be one of two home matches during the spring for the women.
