10.15.11 MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Cavs 8th at Gettysburg

Men's Cross Country, 2011-10-15

(Gettysbuurg, PA) Walsh finished an impressive eighth in a field of 31 teams at the Gettysburg Invitational today.

"It was a windy mudfest today at Gettysburg," noted first-year head coach Christopher Straub. "Times were irrelevant. The men did really well coping with camping the night before the competition, and a lengthy drive to PA. Last year we finished 10th out of 25 teams. This year, still without our top runner in Justin Eddy (So., Perry, OH/HS), we finished 8th out of 31 teams. We're looking forward to an 18 mile run up in the mountains tomorrow before heading back to Ohio."

Jordan Groubert (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) (pictured left) paced the Cavs with a 26th place finish in a time of 28:28.78. Dan Bauman (Sr., Paris, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) was next, finishing 29th in a time of 28:32.40. Justin Groubert (Fr., Hartville, OH/Lake) finished 34th in a time of 28:40.48), Ryan Garrott (Sr., Georgetown, TX/HS) placed 51st (29:11.48), and Matt Roshak (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) 74th (29:43.31).

Adam Stilgenbauer (Jr., New Philadelphia, OH/Tusky Catholic) finished 84th (29:49), Dan Opeka (Sr., Louisville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished 85th (29:51), Travis LeVan (So., Tallmadge, OH/HS) 105th (30:06), Nick Isla (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) 106th (30:08), Chase Harbarger (Jr., Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) 157th (30:55), Phil Kress (Sr., Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) 173rd (31:17), Jackson Zaremba (Fr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) 179th (31:22), and Ryan Opeka (So., Louisville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) 266th (33:54).
