10.19.12 VOLLEYBALL: Cavs Rally to Beat Lake Superior

Women's Volleyball, 2012-10-19

(Sault Ste, Marie, MI) Walsh (7-11, 4-6) rallied from a 2-0 set deficit to defeat Lake Superior State (4-17, 1-9) 3-2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference action tonight.  The Cavs are back in action at 2 pm tomorrow at Saginaw Valley State University.

After falling 25-27 and 15-25 in the first two sets, the Cavs got back into the match with a resounding 25-14 win in the third set.  Walsh then evened the match with a heart-stopping 25-23 win in set four to even the match.  The Cavs then completed the comeback with a 15-13 win in the fifth and deciding set.

Brittany Morris (5-11, Sr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) led the Cavs with 13 kills.  Devin Hummel (5-8, Fr., Shelby, OH/HS) was next with 10 kills and eight digs.  Mallory Lenhart (5-9, So., Lambertville, MI/Bedford) handed out 29 assists.  Julianne O’Donnell (5-10, Sr., Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) and Krissy Sokol (5-9, Jr., Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) each delivered nine kills.  O’Donnell added 14 digs and Sokol 10.  Freshman Emilee Muzechuk (5-9, Mansfield, OH/Madison) also had 14 digs.
