10.21.13 WOMEN'S GOLF: Cavs Third; Tsangeos Medalist at Findlay, Ties Walsh Record

(FINDLAY, Ohio) Walsh finished third, and Jenny Tsangeos (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) earned medalist honors at the 36-hole Beall Fall Classic hosted by the University of Findlay. The Cavs shot 330 on Sunday and rallied to shoot 318 today (330-318=648), finishing seven strokes back of second place Ohio Dominican University (641). The host Oilers won with a two-day score of 617.

Tsangeos, who was in third place after the first round with a 76, fired a 72 today to finish with a 36-hole total of 148. The final round 72 ties a Walsh mark set by Kim Smith in 2010. She shot a 37 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine, and finished with 10 pars and four birdies.

Amanda Griffin (Jr., Tallmadge, OH/HS) tied for 15th at 165 (85-80), Kayla Hardesty (So., Minerva, OH/Marlington) tied for 17th (87-79=166), Raven Venegas (Fr., Lima, OH/Shawnee) tied for 26th (83-89=172), and Meghan Hatfield (So., North Canton, OH/Jackson) tied for 28th at 173 (86-87).

Playing as an individual, Nicole Asbun (Fr., La Paz, Bolivia/St. Andrews) tied for 38th (90-90=180).
