10.25.13 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Cavs Score Season High Six Goals in Win at Tiffin; Durina, Gearhart Score Twice

(TIFFIN, Ohio) Walsh (5-8-2, 2-7) scored a season-best six goals in a 6-2 GLIAC win at Tiffin University (3-10-2, 2-6-1) today. The Cavs have won their last two games and play at the University of Findlay on Sunday at 1 pm in a GLIAC match.

Walsh never trailed, as they scored four first half goals and led 4-2 at halftime.  Emily Durina (So., Youngstown, OH/Austintown Fitch) opened the scoring at 14:25 of the first half, as she scored on a wide open breakaway. It was her fifth goal of the season. Rachel Rucker (Sr., Uniontown, OH/Lake) assisted on the goal. Walsh made it 2-0 at 20:29 when Kristen Conti (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) put the ball in the back of the net on the left side on an assist from Jessie Gearhart (So., Wadsworth, OH/HS).

Tiffin closed the margin to 2-1 at 22:40 on a goal from Olivia Haskin.  Walsh would tally twice within three minutes late in the half to extend the lead. Gearhart scored at 36:51 on a rebound off a free kick, with Lauren Jokovich (Sr., Canton, OH/Jackson) getting the assist. Durina then scored again, at 39:31, with Emily Mallets (Fr., Beavercreek, OH/Mechanicsburg Area) providing the assist.

Walsh put the game away with second half goals from Olivia Buttery (Sr., Canton, OH/Jackson) and Gearhart.  Buttery scored her second goal of the season, unassisted, from 25 yards out at 51:42. Gearhart then scored her second goal of the game, and team-leading fifth on the season, on an assist from Conti at 62:05.

Tiffin added the final tally at 68:20.
