10.26.12 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Gearhart Goal Lifts Cavs to GLIAC Win

(Marquette, MI) Jessie Gearhart’s (5-9, Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) team-leading seventh goal of the season was all the Cavs (9-5-2, 5-5-2) needed in a 1-0 win over host Northern Michigan University (3-13, 2-10) today in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.  The Cavs close the season on Sunday at 12 pm at Michigan Tech.

Gearhart scored on a pass from Kristen Conti (Fr., Hartville, OH/Lake) on the endline at 78:22 to snap the scoreless tie.  Taylor Stano (5-7, Fr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) recorded the shutout, the eighth of the year for the Cavs.  Stano had six saves.

The Wildcats outshot the Cavs 11-8.
