10.26.13 WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Cavs 15th at GLIAC Championships
Women's Cross Country, 2013-10-26
(HOUGHTON, Mich.) - Walsh finished 15th in the 2013 GLIAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Michigan Tech on a chilly and rainy Saturday morning. Nationally ranked No. 1 Grand Valley State University won the event with four runners placing in the top 10. Saginaw Valley State University finished runner-up.
For the Cavaliers, Kate Ryan (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) jumped up to be the top finisher for the Maroon and Gold. She finished with a time of 26:11 and was 84th overall. Kelsey Dickey (Jr., Cortland, OH/Lakeview) crossed the finished line 14 seconds later and was 88th. Sarah Torok (Fr., Strongsville, OH/HS) finished with a time of 26:33 to be third for Walsh. Annie Zaremba (Fr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Gabby DiTullio (R-So., Galion, OH/Northmor) rounded out the top five for the Cavaliers with times of 26:35 and 26:55, respectively.
A total of seven of the top 10 teams in the latest regional rankings are in the GLIAC and competed in the event. The top four teams in the region earn automatic qualifiers to the national championships.
The Cavaliers are off next week before traveling back North to the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional. That event takes place in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday, Nov. 9.
