10.28.12 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Cavs Fall in Season Finale to Michigan Tech

Walsh ended the season with a 2-1 defeat at Michigan Tech on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers end the season at 9-6-2 overall and 5-6-2 in their first season in the GLIAC. The Huskies improves to 13-3-1 overall and 11-1-1 in the conference.

Michigan Tech stuck first early in the game with a goal by MacKenzie Jordan on an assist from Janelle Riedl at the 10-minute mark. The Cavaliers battled close throughout and tied the game on strike by Mollie Vanover (Sr., 5-8, Tipp City, OH/Tippecanoe) from Erin Zaleski (So., 5-8, Allliance, OH/HS) just before halftime.

The score remained 1-1 for the majority of the second half, but the Huskies were able to break through with another goal, this time by Lindsey Van Rooy, on another assist from Riedl at 82:19. The hosts held on for the final seven minutes and change for the 2-1 decision.

Molly Martin had a strong game with four shots on goal to finish out her collegiate career. Taylor Stano (Fr., 5-7, Massillon, OH/Jackson) made five saves on 14 shots faced.
