10.31.12 MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Picked 5th in GLIAC; Kornowski Named to Preseason Team

The 2012-13 GLIAC pre-season polls have been released and Walsh University is picked to finish fifth in the South Division. In total, the Cavaliers picked up 78 votes for their inaugural year in the GLIAC. The University of Findlay is picked to finish first with 178 votes, including 17 first place ballots. The Oilers are the defending GLIAC Tournament champions. Michigan Tech is picked to win the North Division.

The Preseason All-GLIAC Teams were also released and Walsh center Kenny Kornowski (Sr., 6-9, Marshallville, OH/Smithville) is on the South Division’s Second Team. He averaged 18.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game last year before a season-ending knee injury.

Walsh played in an exhibition against No. 4 Ohio State last night and lost 83-71. The Cavs open up the regular season with a home game against Allegheny on Monday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. Their first conference contest will be against Northern Michigan on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 6 p.m.
