10.31.13 WOMEN'S TENNIS: Three Cavaliers Named to All-GLIAC Teams

(BAY CITY, Mich.) – The 2013 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Postseason Awards have been announced and three Cavaliers have been selected to the All-Conference Teams. Sofya Logunova (Praha, Czech Republic/Russian Embassy School in Prague) leads the way as she was selected to the All-GLIAC First Team. Daria Bondareva  (Fr., St. Petersburg, Russia) was selected to the All-GLIAC Second Team and Alisha Angle (Jr., Lexington, OH/HS) was named an All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.

Logunova had an outstanding first semester of her collegiate career as she went 14-5 in singles action and 11-8 in doubles play. All of her solo matches were at first singles. The majority of her doubles matches also came at the first slot where she went 11-7.

Bondareva was also instrumental in the Cavaliers’ successful fall semester with a 14-3 singles record and an 11-6 doubles mark. Bondareva primarily played second singles, where she went 13-3, and won her only match at third singles. With a partner, she mostly played second doubles where she recorded an 11-5 record.

Angle had an amazing turnaround season to lead Walsh in wins. She went a team-best 15-3 in solo competition split between fourth and fifth singles. At the No. 4 spot, she went 8-1. In doubles play, Angle went 11-6 overall with an 11-5 mark at second doubles.

Walsh is 14-5 after completing the fall season. The Cavs went 10-4 in the conference and finished fifth in the GLIAC standings and tournament after going 3-11 a season ago. They will resume the season in February.
