10.5.12 VOLLEYBALL: Cavs Halt Skid
Women's Volleyball, 2012-10-05
(North Canton, OH) Walsh (4-9, 2-6) snapped a five-match skid with a 3-1 win over Michigan Tech University (5-11, 2-6) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action tonight. The Cavs won by set scores of 25-13, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-21. The Cavs host Northern Michigan University at 2 pm tomorrow afternoon.
Walsh started quickly and won set one. After the Huskies evened the match in the second set, Walsh started quickly again the third and fourth sets, and then played solid throughout to win the match.
Julianne O’Donnell (Sr., 5-10, Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) paced the Cavs with 18 kills, to go along with 10 digs and three blocks. Brittany Morris (Sr., 5-11, North Royalton, OH/Padua) added nine kills and 12 digs and Krissy Sokol (Jr., 5-9, Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) had eight kills and 11 digs. Freshman Devin Hummel (5-8, Shelby, OH/HS) led the Cavs with 14 digs. Setter Hannah Duran (Sr., 5-9, Elyria, OH/Midview) handed out a match-high 29 assists and five blocks.
