10.6.12 MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Justin Groubert's First Place Finish Leads Cavs to Silver
Men's Cross Country, 2012-10-06
Justin Groubert (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) took top individual honors and led Walsh to a second place finish in the Slippery Rock Cross Country Invitational at Cooper’s Lake Campground. Only hosting Slipper Rock was able to defeat the Cavaliers (30-10) as the Rockets had all seven thinclads in the top 14. The Cavs had three runners in the top 10.
Justin Groubert won the race with a time of 26:17, four seconds ahead of second place Chris Grooms of Slippery Rock. It was his second individual win of the season. Justin Eddy (Jr., Perry, OH/HS) finished fourth overall with a time of 26:47. Jordan Groubert (Sr., Hartville, OH/Lake) was the other Cavaliers runner in the top 10 as he finished ninth with a time of 27:09.
Jackson Zaremba (So., Canton, OH/GlenOak) was 12thoverall and recorded a time of 27:35. Matt Roshak (So., North Canton, OH/Hoover) and Matt Thiessen (Fr., Navarre, OH/Perry) finished back-to-back in 17thand 18thplaces, respectfully. Roshak finished with a 28:04 and Thiessen finished three seconds behind him. Adam Stilgenbauer (Sr., New Philadelphia, OH/Tuskey Catholic) rounded out the Cavs’ team scoring finishing 33rdoverall with a time of 28:55.
Walsh will be off for a week before participating in the GLIAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Northwood, Michigan.
