10.6.13 MEN'S SOCCER: ODU Comes From Behind to Down Cavs 2-1

Men's Soccer, 2013-10-06

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - Walsh scored early in a game once again, but couldn’t stop host Ohio Dominican from staging a comeback and edging out a 2-1 win in GLIAC action Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers (3-6, 3-4) put in the game’s first goal at 12:19 for a 1-0 lead, but the Panthers added goals six minutes later and five minutes into the second half.

Bailey Moody (Fr., Middleburg Heights, OH/Midpark) was the Cavalier with the goal as Walsh completed another set play to perfection. After the ball went out of bounds deep on the Ohio Dominican end, Adam Gonia (Fr., Sylvania, OH/Northview) took the throw in and launched it into the box where Moody went up and headed it into the right side.

The Panthers scored an equalizer when Brent Wahle scored on a breakaway as he went through the Walsh defense and scored from 10 yards out at 18:39. Wahle then scored the go-ahead goal on another breakaway at 49:43. This time it was from 15 yards out.

Walsh returns to the pitch when the Cavs host Northwood this Friday on the back-end of a doubleheader with the women’s soccer team. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Milazzo Field.
