10.7.13 MEN'S GOLF: Cavs Finish 12th in GLIAC Championship

(BATH, Mich.) – After entering the day tied for sixth in the team standings, Walsh slipped and finished 12th in the 2013 GLIAC Men’s Golf Championships at Eagle Eye Golf Club. The Cavaliers finished with a total score of 943 in the three-day event. They shot a 302 on the first day and a 313 yesterday.

Blake Foutty (Jr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) and Zach Keylor (Fr., Barnesville, OH/St. Clairsville) were the top individuals for the Cavs as they both finished 16-over with scores of 232 for the tournament and tied for 28th overall. Foutty carded an 81 in the final round with 72 being par for the course. Keylor scored a 79 in the final round, the best of the team on the last day. He also had the best single round of the team with a 72 on Saturday.

Brandon Shannon (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) was four strokes behind Foutty and Keylor with a score of 236 over the three days. He shot a 77 on Saturday, 75 yesterday, and an 84 today. Jeff Cockerham (Jr., Akron, OH/Ellet) and Eric Bowman rounded out the squad as both scored a 246 for the tournament.

The Cavaliers will now finish the fall season with the Phipps Memorial Invitational at Brookside Country Club in Canton on Tuesday.
