11.10.11 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Five Cavs on All-OIC Team; Martin Player of the Year

Women's Soccer, 2011-11-10

The Walsh University women’s soccer team placed five players on the All-Ohio Independent Conference Team led by Molly Martin (Jr., 5-7, Canfield, OH/HS) who earned Player of the Year honors. The Cavaliers finished the season 13-5, their best record since going 13-3-2 in 2007. Martin earned Player of the Year and All-OIC First Team honors as a midfielder after scoring six goals and three assists for 15 points.

Carley Adams (Jr., 5-8, Louisville, OH/HS) and Kelly Sklenar (Jr., 5-3, Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) were also selected to the All-OIC First team as a forward and defender, respectively. Adams led the team in goals with 11 and points with 23. She also recorded an assist. Sklenar played and started in 17 games at defender this season and scored one goal and one assist for three points.

Gina Pinzone (Jr., 5-6, Cleveland, OH/Padua Franciscan) and Jill Zanney (Sr., 5-11, Brunswick, OH/HS) earned spots on the All-OIC Second Team. Pinzone scored four goals and four assists for 12 points on the year. Zanney recorded a goals against average of 1.36, made 80 saves on the year, and shutout the opposition six times. Zanney ends her career as school-record holder in career shutouts with 20, goalkeeper games played with 67, and third in career saves with 325.
