11.10.12 VOLLEYBALL: Cavs Close Season On High Note With Defeat of Tiffin

Walsh closed out its first season in the GLIAC on a high note with a come-from-behind win against visiting Tiffin. The Cavaliers end the year 11-15 overall and 8-10 in the conference. The Dragons close the year at 9-20 overall and 2-16 in the GLIAC.

Both teams matched each other nearly point for point in the first set, but Tiffin was able to pull out a 25-23 victory to go up 1-0. The Dragons built up momentum to take a decent lead in the second set, but the Cavs came back and evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-23 win of their own.

With the tide of the momentum in their favor, the Cavaliers went on to roll through the final two sets with wins in both by double digits. Walsh controlled the third set from start to finish in a 25-14 decision and followed up even better in the fourth at 25-11.

Julianne O’Donnell (Sr., 5-10, Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) finished her career at Walsh in tremendous fashion with 18 kills, a match high, and 16 digs. Emilee Muzechuk (Fr., 5-9, Mansfield, OH/Madison) paced the team defensively with a match-best 22 digs. Hannah Duran (Sr., Elyria, OH/Midview) capped off her career with 48 assists and 10 digs. Krissy Sokol (Jr., 5-9, Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) added 17 kills.
