11.14.12 FOOTBALL: Cavs Place Six on All-GLIAC Team
Walsh University placed six players on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team. Jamaris Brown (DB, So., Fort Myers, FL/Lehigh), Ryan Fehernbach (DL, Sr., Cincinnati, OH/Turpin), Toba Olarewaju (TB, Sr., Youngstown, OH/Christian), Andrew Roy (DL, Jr., Tallmadge, OH/HS), Anthony Schrock (WR, So., Wadsworth, OH/HS/Akron), and Sir Taylor (DB, Sr., Albany, NY/Lincoln Hall/Youngstown State) were all named honorable mention.
Walsh's defense, which allowed only 21.5 points per game (4th GLIAC), placed four players on the team. Brown finished fifth on the team with 56 tackles and led the team with two interceptions. Fehrenbach recorded 40 tackles, with seven for a loss and 4.5 sacks. Roy had 47 tackles and was second on the team with 10.5 for a loss and a team leading six sacks (6th GLIAC). Taylor, in his only year in a Cavalier uniform, led the team with 112 tackles, fourth highest in a single season at Walsh and fourth in the GLIAC. Taylor had one interception and returned 18 kicks for a 21.9 average (6th GLIAC).
Schrock led the team with 34 catches and averaged 18.6 per catch with three touchdowns. Olarewaju, despite playing the last three games with a cast on his hand due to a broken hand, led the team with 906 yards rushing in 10 games. He averaged 90.6 yards per game (8th GLIAC), 4.5 yards per carry and scored 10 touchdowns. He was third in the GLIAC in kick return average (25.7) and fifth in all purpose yardage (138.0).
