(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) Walsh (3-1) bounced back from a tough loss at Gannon University on Wednesday night by defeating Maryville University (2-2) 87-76 in their home opener today at Alumni Arena today. The Cavs are idle until November 26, when the travel to Clarion University for a non-league game.

Despite 10 first half points from Kelsey Funderburgh (5-7, So., North Lewisburg, OH/Triad/Morehead State), and nine from Rachael Trujillo (5-8, So., Cleveland, OH/Westlake), Walsh trailed 43-39 at the break. Funderburgh hit two three-pointers and tallied 10 points, while Trujillo added nine.

The Cavs would regroup at the half and outscore Maryville 48-33 in the second half to post their third win of the season.

Walsh's balanced attack produced six players in double figures, led by Funderburgh's 20 points. Trujillo, Jalynn Graham (5-5, Fr., Columbus, OH/Central Crossing) and Tara Gallupe (6-0, Sr., Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) each added 11 points.

Audrey Badovich (5-7, Jr., Norwalk, OH/St. Paul) and Maggie Berry (6-0, Sr., Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph) each tallied 10 points.
