11.21.12 MEN'S TENNIS: Lake's Ross Whittaker to Play for Father at Walsh

Walsh University head men’s tennis coach Bryan Whittaker has announced that his son, Ross Whittaker (Uniontown, OH/Lake), has signed a institutional letter of intent to play for the Cavs in the 2013-14 season.

Ross was selected the 2012 Stark County Boys Tennis Player of the Year after winning his third straight Division I sectional championship this past spring. Whittaker went 24-3 this past season, including 12-0 in the Federal League. He helped lead Lake to its first Federal League title en route to being selected as the league’s player of the year. His overall record heading into his senior year is 75-13.

Ross was also a three-time NE Ohio singles district qualifier and Ohio singles championship qualifier. He is also a four-time Midwest Singles Championship qualifier and member of the 2012 Junior Boys Davis Cup Team for Northeast Ohio.

Ross was previously ranked #1 in Northeast Ohio 18 & under singles and 62nd in Midwest 18 & under singles. .

Ross is the son Bryan and Pamela Whittaker.
