11.30.11 VOLLEYBALL: Cavs Place Five on All-AMC, Three on All-OIC

Post-season awards have been released and Walsh University has placed five players on the All-AMC Team and three players on the All-OIC Team. Walsh finished the season 27-7 overall and 9-1 in the conference, earning a conference co-championship. The Cavs also captured the OIC championship.
Julianne O’Donnell (Jr., 5-10, Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) led a group of five Cavaliers named to the All-AMC team for the 2011 season. Paige Chandler (RS-So., 6-0, Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) and Brittany Morris (Jr., 5-11, North Royalton, OH/Padua) were named to the All-AMC Second Team. Kristine Sokol (So., 5-9, Akron, OH/Hoban) and Kristen Rohlfs (Sr., 5-8, Loveland, OH/Mount Notre Dame) were honorable mentions. O’Donnell, Morris and Chandler were also named to the All-OIC First Team.
O’Donnell led the team in attacking with 429 kills on the year, an average of 4.01 per game. Her attack percentage was .303, second highest on the team. Defensively she was second on the team with 301 digs. Her 30 aces were Her 29 blocks were fourth-most on the team.
Chandler was also a pivotal part of the Cavaliers’ offense with 257 kills, a 2.68 per game average, which ranked second on the team. She also had 40 blocks, third most on the team. Morris added 180 kills on the year and 58 blocks, which was second-most on the team. Morris also had the highest attacking percentage on the team at 34 percent. Sokol led the team in aces and blocks with 39 and 63, respectively. Sokol also added 206 kills. Rohlfs was a defensive specialist that recorded a team best 441 digs, an average of 4.12 per game.
