11.8.13 VOLLEYBALL: Cavs Fall to Findlay On Senior Night

Women's Volleyball, 2013-11-08

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh battled early and split the first two sets, but couldn’t pull out the victory and fell to Findlay 23-25, 30-28, 9-25, 22-25. The Cavaliers are now 5-20 overall and 2-13 in the conference. The Oilers improve to 18-9 overall and 9-6 in the GLIAC.

Both teams were neck and neck for almost the entire duration of the first two sets. Both teams held leads late in each set, but Findlay found itself on top in the first while Walsh rebounded to take set two in a nail-biter. After intermission, the Oilers cruised to a win in set three and pulled away late in set four for the match victory.

Krissy Sokol (Sr., Akron, OH/Hoban) has a superb match in her penultimate home outing as a Cavalier with 18 kills and 16 digs. Both were team highs and she tied Findlay’s Hannah Tong for game-high honors in kills. Paige Chandler (Sr., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas), who was also in her playing in her second-to-last match at home, also had a double-double in kills and digs with 14 each. Devin Hummel (So., Shelby, OH/HS) and Emilee Muzechuk (So., Mansfield, OH/Madison) added 13 and 10 digs, respectively.

Walsh returns to action for the final home match of the season tomorrow against Wayne State. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
