12.13.11 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:Cavs Fall at Rio

Women's Basketball, 2011-12-13

(Rio Grande, OH) A poor shooting first half proved costly as Walsh (4-4) fell 73-59 to the University of Rio Grande (9-3) today at Newt Oliver Arena. The Cavs are now headed to Florida for games on Friday and Saturday. The Cavs play Southwestern Christian University on Friday (16th) at 12 pm and Northwood University on Saturday (17th) at 2 pm. Both games will be broadcast live on TEAMLINE.

The Cavs shot 21% (7-34) in the first half and trailed 35-23 at the half. Despite shooting 48% (14-29) in the second half, the Cavs first half deficit was too much to overcome.

Mandi Swickard (6-1, Sr., Alexandria, OH/Northridge) (pictured left) led the Cavs with 11 points and was the only Walsh player to reach double figures. Maggie Berry added nine points and eight rebounds.
