12.18.11 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Rally From 20 Down to Stun Southwestern Christian

(West Palm Beach, Florida) Walsh (5-4) rallied from 20 points down in the first half to defeat Southwestern Christian University 67-62 in the first game of the Step It Up Classic. Walsh meets host Northwood University at 2 pm tomorrow. The game will be broadcast live on TEAMLINE.

Walsh trailed throughout the first 20 minutes and trailed 32-12 late in the half, before rallying to trail only 35-28 at the break.

Walsh held Southwestern Christian (3-9) scoreless the first 7:23 of the second half as they climbed back into the game. Mandi Swickard (6-1, Sr., Alexandria, OH/Northridge) (pictured left) continued her fine play in helping lead the comeback. Swickard was a perfect 7-7 from the floor and finished with a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds.

Tracy Payne (5-5, Jr., Danville, OH/HS/Notre Dame College) added 13 points and five rebounds and Tanisha Lawler (5-7, Fr., Euclid, OH/Hathaway Brown) tallied 10 points off the bench.

Walsh shot a blistering 55% in the second half on 11-20 from the field while holding SW Christian to just 29% on 8-28.
