(North Canton, OH) Walsh (9-1) scored the games' 16 points, and then never looked back in blitzing Algoma University (7-5) 107-54 at Alumni Arena. The win was the sixth straight for the Cavs, who are now now idle until December 28 when they meet Guelph University in the Ryerson Tournament in Toronto.
Walsh jumped to a 16-0 lead before Algoma scored their first points at the 14:18 mark. Walsh would shoot 61% (27-44) in the first half and were led by Kenny Kornowski's (6-9, Jr., Marshallville, OH/Smithville) 18 first half points. Ron Kinney (6-7, Sr., Cleveland, OH/Rhodes) (pictured left) continued his hot shooting, going 7-9 from the floor in the first half to finish with 17 points.
The second half was much like the first, as the Cavs outscored Algoma 47-37 and led by 57 points with three minutes to play.
Kinney finished with a game-high 25 points and has averaged 25 points in each of his last five games. He connected on 10-14 from the field and 4-7 from three-point. He also had seven rebounds. Kornowski finished with 20 points and eight rebounds.
L. J. Sutton (6-7, Sr., Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) played his best game of the season tallying 18 points on 7-9 from the floor, to go with a game-high 13 rebounds. Cameron Mitchell (6-4, So., Cincinnati, OH/Taft) added 11 points and seven rebounds and Brad DuPont (6-0, So., Massillon, OH/Jackson/Wheeling Jesuit) had seven points and nine assists.
Walsh shot 58% (45-78) for the night and out rebounded Algoma 57-25. The Cavs took good care of the basketball with only six turnovers.
For Algoma, it was their third game in as many days. They were led by Dele Owuro's 10 points.
