12-29-12 MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Rout Ohio Mid-Western to Snap Three-Game Skid

(North Canton, OH) Walsh (6-3) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 98-61 win over visiting Ohio Mid-Western College (4-10) today. The Cavs return to the floor on Thursday, January 3, when they travel to Grand Valley State University for a GLIAC game. The game will be broadcast live on 95.9 The Light, WNPQ.
Kenny Kornowski (6-9, Sr., Marshallville, OH/Smithville) and Rian Burrell (6-3, So., Zanesville, OH/HS) combined for 24 first half points as Walsh led 49-25 at the break. The only Ohio Mid-Western lead came in the first 2:15 of the contest.
Walsh used a balanced attack and coasted in the final 20 minutes to break their first three-game losing streak since 2004-05. All 11 players scored for Walsh.
The Cavs scored 49 points in each half.
Kornowski led all scorers with 26 points. He was 14-15 from the line. He added seven rebounds. Burrell scored 19 points and recorded seven rebounds. Jeff Copeland (6-5, So., Toledo, OH/St. John’s Jesuit) chipped in 14 points and Brad DuPont (6-0, Jr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) had 10 points, five assists and five steals off the bench.
Walsh out-rebounded the Rams 51-29 and 29-10 in the second half.
Former Cavalier Greg Howard led Ohio Mid-Western with 19 points.
