12.8.12 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cavs Can't Hold Double Digit Lead; Fall at Lake Superior

(Sault Ste., Marie, MI) Walsh dropped to 0-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after losing 53-47 at Lake Superior State University (2-6, 1-3) today. The Cavs, 1-4 overall, host Ohio Mid-Western University on Tuesday at 7 pm.
The Cavs played a solid first half and built a 27-11 lead with 4:12 to play in the half. The Lakers then closed the half with a 7-0 run and trailed 27-18 at the half.
Walsh built the lead back to ten points at 39-29 with 10:41 to play, when the Lakers went on a 16-5 run to take the lead for good at 45-44 with 4:01 to play. The Cavs sat on 44 points from 5:22 until there were less than two minutes to play.
Lydia Corle (5-9, Fr., Green, OH/North Canton, OH) led the Cavs with a career-high 19 points. She also had six rebounds. Maggie Berry (6-0, Jr., Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph) scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds before fouling out and Tracy Payne (5-5, Sr., Danville, OH/HS) had 12 points.
