Women's Track & Field, 2012-02-20

The Walsh Women’s Track & Field team participated in the Last Chance Invitational hosted by Kent State University on Saturday. With nearly 50 schools participating in the event, some of the Cavaliers performed exceptionally well.

Stephanie Foster (Jr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) continued her strong year with third place finish in the pole vault with a height of 12-1.25. Allison Swarny (Jr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) earned a sixth place finish in the 400 meter dash and set a school record in the process. Her time of 59.93 broke Athena Culverhouse’s old record of 59.97 set in 2003.

An eighth place finish was turned 4x400 meter relay team comprised of Carly Walters (So., Garfield Heights, OH/Trinity), Molly Martin (Jr., Canfield, OH/HS), Liz Broome (So., Dalton, OH/Chippewa), and Swarny. The quartet finished with a time of 4:09.21.

Broome also ran the 60 meter dash. While she did not place, she did tie the school record with a time of 8.38 which was originally set by Brenna Kirkbride in 2007.

The Cavaliers are now off until Saturday, March 3, when they participate in the Savannah State Invitational.
