3.19.12 SOFTBALL: Cavs Trio Named to Smash Hit All-Tournament Team

The 2012 Boombah/Upperdeck Sports Smash Hit Tournament hosted by South Carolina Beaufort have released its all-tournament team and Walsh has three members on the team. Erin Ebert (Jr., Jeromesville, OH/Hillsdale), Dana Brown (Jr., Uniontown, OH/Lake), and Kayla Marcus (So., Bergholz, OH/Edison) were the three Cavaliers to make the team.

Ebert’s play during the week was highlighted by a no-hitter against Milligan College. Overall, she had an ERA of 0.88 as she gave up only two earned runs and six total. She allowed eight hits and struck out 25 against just seven walks in 16 innings of work.

Brown was strong at the plate as she hit .400 (8-20) with four runs scored and four RBI. She also tallied three stolen bases. Marcus was 6-19 for a .316 batting average during the week. She had three runs, two RBI, doubled twice, and was hit by a pitch.

Walsh went 4-2 in tournament games with wins over Findlay, hosting South Carolina Beaufort, Malone, and Milligan.
