2.2.13 WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD: Swarny Leads Way at Jim Wuske Invite

(Alliance, Ohio) - Walsh participated in the Mt. Union “Jim Wuske” Invitational this afternoon and had six events in which the Cavaliers placed in the top three. Of those six, the Cavs finished first in three of them. Two Cavaliers also broke school records during the meet.
Two of those three first-place finishes involved relay teams. The 4x200 meter relay team consisting of Carley Adams (Sr., Louisville, OH/HS), Larissa Ziegler (So., North Ridgeville, OH/Elyria Catholic), Erin Peskura (Fr., Strongsville, OH/HS), and Allison Swarny (Sr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) crossed the finish line first with a time of 1:50.71. The 4x400 meter relay team, which also included Adams and Swarny as well as Carly Walters (Jr., Twinsburg, OH/Trinity) and Sarah Martter (Jr., Peninsula, OH/Woodridge), finished with a time of 4.11.80. Swarny also finished first individually in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.04.
Leah Beatty (Sr., Enon Valley, PA/Mohawk) finished second in the shot put and third in the weight throw for two of the other top three finishes. Her weight throw distance was 13.3 meters to set a new Walsh record. Her shot put distance was 11.87 meters. Erica Hicks (Fr., Garfield Heights, OH/Trinity) finished third in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.31 and also set a school record.
The Cavaliers are off next weekend and will next be in action on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Kent State Tune-Up.
