2.25.12 BASEBALL: Cavs Drop Two to Open Season

(Portsmouth, OH) Walsh (0-2) opened the season by losing both ends of a split doubleheader today.  Baldwin-Wallace scored 15 runs in the first four innings in handing the Cavs a 16-5 shellacking in game one.  In the nightcap, Shawnee State scored three runs in the first and second innings on their ways to a 6-4 win.  Walsh plays Baldwin-Wallace at 11 am and Shawnee State at 2 pm tomorrow.

Drew Link (So., Granville, OH/HS) and Tyler Jones (Sr., Mansfield, OH/Madison) each two hits for the Cavs in game one.  Billy Gura (Sr., Sagamore Hills, OH/St. Peter Chanel) was tagged with the loss.

David Roper (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) went the distance in the nightcap and was charged with the loss. Trevor Smith (Jr., Parma, OH/Holy Name), Forrest Boggs (Jr., Suffield, OH/Field/Mercyhurst), Andy DePeel (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) and Kyler King (Jr., Unintown, OH/Lake) each had two hits.
