2.4.12 WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD: Relay Team Sets Mark at Mount Union

Walsh performed extremely well at the Jim Wuske Invitational, hosted by the University of Mount Union.  The Cavs took three first place finishes and set a new team record in the 4 x 200m relay.

Carly Walters (So., Garfield Heights, OH/Trinity), Liz Broome (So., Dalton, OH/Chippewa), Sarah Martter (Jr., Peninsula, OH/Woodridge) and Allison Swarny (Jr., Bolivar, OH/Tusky Valley) set a new mark of 1:49.42 in the 4 x 200m relay, shattering the old record of 1:50.66.  Martter, Swarny, Walters and Molly Martin (Jr., Canfield, OH/HS) also took first place in the 4 x 400m relay in a time of 4:09.82.

Premier junior pole vaulter Stephanie Foster (Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) won with a vault of 11-10.50.

Swarny and Martter also earned a pair of third place finishes.  Swarny finished third in the 400m (1:01.18) and Martter in the 500m (1:23.02).  Broome placed sixth in the 60m (8.46), Katelin Smith (Fr., North Lima, OH/South Range) finished sixth in the 60m hurdles (10.18), Melissa Overman (Sr., Amherst, OH/Steele) sixth in the shot (37-04.00) and Leah Beatty (Jr., Enon Valley, PA/Mohawk) eighth in the shot (37-00.25).
