Recipients must have a junior or senior academic standing and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50. Piersante, an education major, carries a 3.51 grade point average. She also competed at this year's NAIA National Championships and finished 78th in a field of 256 runners. Monday, November 24, 2003 Cavs (44-26) Sara Piersante Runs Well at Nationals Sara Piersante (Sr., Canfield, OH/HS) finished 78th in a time of 19:17.9 at the NAIA National Women's Cross Championships in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday. The field consisted of 256 runners. Piersante earned one of 14 at-large berths and was making her first national tournament appearance. Piersante's 10th place finish (19:27) at the AMC Championships earned her a qualifying berth in the 5k race. Saturday, November 1, 2003 Cavs (44-26) Fourth at AMC Championships/Sara Piersante 2nd Team All-AMC, Waits For Word on National At-Large Bid Walsh (44-26) finished a strong fourth at the American Mideast Conference championships held in LaTrobe, PA today. Malone College won the championships, with Roberts Wesleyan placing second and Cedarville University third. Sara Piersante (Sr., Canfield, OH/HS) top right earned second team All-AMC honors with her 10th place finish (19:27). Piersante will find out next Monday if she will make the trip to Louisville, KY for the NAIA Championships. Lisa Mielke (Jr., Sandusky, OH/St. Mary) was next for the Cavs finishing 23rd (20:18). Cara Klein (Sr., North Canton, OH/Green) placed 36th (20:51), Kristen Piersante (So., Canfield, OH/HS) finished 44th (21:18) and Andrea Elsasser (Sr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) was 48th (21:33). Monday, October 27, 2003 Cavs (35-23) at AMC Championships Walsh won a cross country relay against Notre Dame of Ohio on Saturday. This Saturday, the Cavs travel to Saint Vincent College (LaTrobe, PA) for the American Mideast Conference championships. The Cavs were sixth at the championships last year. The race begins at 10:15 a.m. Sara Piersante (Sr., Canfield, OH/HS), Kristen Piersante (So., Canfield, OH/HS), Kara Coates (So., North Canton, OH/GlenOak) and Laurie Glass (So., Ashland, OH/HS) made-up the Cavs winning relay team against the Blue Falcons. Saturday, October 18, 2003 Cavs (35-23) 7th at Gettysburg Invitational Walsh finished seventh in the 19-team Gettysburg Invitational 6K race on Saturday. Top runner Sara Piersante (Sr., Canfield, OH/HS) paced the Cavs with a 4th place finish in a time of 23:51.05. Lisa Mielke (Jr., Sandusky, OH/St. Mary) was next for the Cavs finishing 31st in a time of 25:18.06. Cara Klein (Sr., North Canton, OH/Green) top right finished 50th (25:57.76), Andrea Elsasser (Sr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) bottom right 76th (26:53.89) and Kristen Piersante (So., Canfield, OH/HS) 86th (27:07.02). The Cavs are home on Saturday to Notre Dame, Seton Hill and Tiffin. The race begins at 11 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2003 Cavs (23-17) 6th at All-Ohio Meet Walsh (23-17) finished sixth in the NAIA/NCAA D-ll race at the All-Ohio Invitational held at Ohio Wesleyan College in Delaware, Ohio today. Sara Piersante (Sr., Canfield, OH/HS) right paced the Cavs with a 10th place finish in a time of 19:44.9. Sara Piersante (Sr., Canfield, OH/HS) paced the Cavs with a strong ninth place finish (19:17). Lisa Mielke (Jr., Sandusky, OH/St. Mary) placed 34th (20:13), Cara Klein (Sr., North Canton, OH/Green) 59th (20:53), Kristen Piersante (So., Canfield, OH/HS) 75th (21:11) and Andrea Elsasser (Sr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) 98th (21:47). The Cavs host Geneva at 4 p.m. on Friday. Monday, Septmeber 15, 2003 Cavs Win at Notre Dame (OH)/Run at National Catholic Meet on Friday Walsh's women (7-0) won its first race of the season defeating seven schools at the Notre Dame College Invitational. This week they compete at the National Catholic Meet on Friday at Notre Dame (IN). Last season they placed 7th in the college division. The Cavs placed four runners in the top ten, with Sara Piersante (Sr., Canfield, OH/HS) finishing second in a time of 20:23. Lisa Mielke (Jr., Sandusky, OH/St. Mary) was third in a time of 20:57. The Cavs compete this Friday in the National Catholic Meet at Notre Dame. Walsh also placed Kristen Piersante (So., Canfield, OH/HS) and Cara Klein (Sr., North Canton, OH/Green) in the top ten, placing fifth and sixth respectively. Piersante finished in a time of 21:24 and Klein 21:48. Andrea Elsasser (Sr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) just missed the top ten with a 13th place finish in a time of 22:25.
