2004 Spring Outlook

The 2004 campaign marks the first full season for the Cavaliers. Last year, Timmi Jo Brindle, Melissa Elliott and Kristin Heim helped start the program. All three golfers are gone for 2004, as Coach Young recruited an outstanding class. The team opens its five match schedule on April 3rd at Capital.

Christine Haver (Fr., Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) will most likely be the team's top golfer. A three-year letterwinner at Upper Arlington, Haver gave the Cavs a sneak-preview when she earned medalist honors in a sudden death playoff at Capital this past fall.

The rest of the Cavs line-up is yet to be finalized, as the remaining four golfers compete. Devon Cairns (Fr., Dellroy, OH/Carrollton) is a former All-Eastern District selection. Andrea Ferriell (Fr., Hartville, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) earned first team All-League and second team All-County honors. Kelsey Saleet (Fr., Canton, OH/McKinley) lettered twice for the Bulldogs. Meghan Snider (Fr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) earned first team All-Federal League, All-Stark County and honorable mention All-Northeastern District accolades and Christina Trbovich (Fr., Canton, OH/McKinley) garnered first team All-Stark County, All-Tri-County and Academic All-Ohio honors.

Coach Young has a talented contingent to get the Cavs' program headed in a positive direction. The quicker they become acclimated to the grind of 18 holes, the faster they will gel and post good numbers. It should be an interesting year for the Cavs. Walsh's only home match is April 12 and 13 at Prestwick Country Club and Raintree Country Club.
