"Cavs Trio Earns NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Honors"

Walsh University has placed three student-athletes on the NAIA-Daktronics All-America Scholar-Athlete team; Tyler Immel (Jr., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway), Sean McBride (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) and Adam Vincent (Jr., Garrettsville, OH/Garfield) were all selected. Immel is a business/accounting major and carries a 39.2 grade point average (GPA). McBride is a biology/pre-physical therapy major with a perfect 4.00 GPA and Vincent is an English major with a 3.91 GPA.

"McKee, Zundel Compete at Nationals"

Brendan McKee (Fr., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) finished 137th (26:39) and Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) 163rd (26:50) at the 50th NAIA Championships, held in Louisville, Kentucky today. It was the first trip to nationals for both.

"McKee/Zundel Set for Nationals"

Walsh will send Brendan McKee (Fr., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) to Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday for the 50th annual NAIA Championships. McKee earned the trip with a 17th place finish (27:05) at the AMC/Region IX meet two weeks ago. He was also named honorable mention All-AMC. Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) finished 28th in a time of 27:40 to qualify. Both are going for the first time. The 8k race starts at 10:30 am at Tom Sawyer Park.

"Cavs 6th at NAIA Region IX Meet/McKee, Zundel Qualify for Nationals"

Walsh (58-18) finished sixth at the NAIA Region IX Championships held at Shawnee State Universitiy today. The Cavs finished with 169 points. Brendan McKee (Fr., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) (Pictured top right) paced the squad with a 17th place finish (27:05) and earned honorable mention All-AMC honors. Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) was next, with a 28th place finish in a time of 27:40. Both qualified for nationals and will compete on November 19 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Joel Dagenhardt (Sr., Marlington, OH/HS) finished 34th (27:49), Josh Rogers (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) was 39th (27:57) and Sean McBride (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) placed 46th (28:11).

"Cavs (50-12) Win 4 x 3k Relay/At AMC Meet this Saturday"

The Cavs (50-12) won their home 4 x 3k relay this past Saturday. This week, they travel to Portsmouth, Ohio for the American Mideast Conference/Region IX Championships. The meet begins at 11 am. The Cavs finished fifth last year. The winner advances to the NAIA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky on November 19.

Walsh's "A" team won the 4 x 3k relay, with a time of 37:59. Joel Dagenhardt (Sr., Marlington, OH/HS), Brendan McKee (Fr., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary), Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) and Josh Rogers (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) comprised the winning team.

"Cavs (50-12) Idle Last Week/Host Home Meet on Saturday"

The Cavs (50-12) were idle this past week. They host a home meet on Saturday, with Myers University, Notre Dame College, Seton Hill and Ursuline. The meet will start at 11 am.

"Cavs (50-12) 5th at Gettysburg Invitational"

Walsh (50-12) finished fifth at the 23-team Gettysburg Invitational in Gettysburg, PA today. Joel Dagenhardt (Sr., Marlington, OH/HS) (Pictured top right) paced the Cavs with a ninth place finish in a time of 27:01.31). Josh Rogers (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) was next for the Cavs, placing 31st in a time of 27:45.03. Jon Winnyk (Fr., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) finished 34th (27:47.77), Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) 38th (27:57.99), Sean McBride (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) 43rd (28:11.61), Brendan McKee (Fr., Akron, OH/St. V-St. Mary) 50th (28:16.39) and Andy Schulz (So., Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) 67th (28:34.29). The Cavs are idle next Saturday.

"Cavs (32-8) Sixth at All-Ohio Meet"

Walsh (32-8) finished sixth at the All-Ohio Meet, held at Ohio Wesleyan University on Friday. Joel Dagenhardt (Sr., Marlington, OH/HS) (Pictured top right) paced the Cavs with a 12th pace finish in a time of 27:21. Sean McBride (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) was next at 31st (28:38.7), Jon Winnyk (Fr., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) was 36th (28:50.1), Josh Rogers (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) 39th (29:03.8), Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) 44th (29:23.6), Steve Mackle (Sr., Malvern, OH/HS) 46th (29:40.2) and Brendan McKee (Fr., Akron, OH/St. V-St. Mary) 47th (29:50.2).

This Saturday, the Cavs compete in the Gettysburg Invitational in Gettysburg, PA. The meet will start at 12 pm.

"Cavs (27-3) at All-Ohio Meet on Friday"

Walsh (27-3) prepares for the All-Ohio Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio on Friday. The Cavs finished 15th last year. The Cavs hosted a Co-Ed Invitational with Malone, Notre Dame and Lake Erie last Friday. The men won their side of the event and finished second in Co-Ed totals. Joel Dagenhardt (Sr., Marlington, OH/HS) (Pictured top right) paced the Cavs with a second place finish in a time of 16:25. Brenden McKee (Fr., Akron, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary) was third in a time of 16:32, Steve Mackle (Sr., Malvern, OH/HS) finished sixth (16:43), Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) and Jon Winnyk (Fr., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) were seventh (16:45), and Josh Rogers (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) ninth (16:48).

"Cavs Perform Well at National Catholic, Finish Fourth"

Walsh (24-3) finished fourth in the division two field at the National Catholic Cross Country Meet at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana today. Joel Dagenhardt (Sr., Marlington, OH/HS) (Pictured top right) paced the Cavs with a 16th place finish in a time of 26:38. Josh Rogers (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) placed 27th (27:03), Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. V-St. Mary) 29th (27:05), Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) was 31st (27:13), Sean McBride (Jr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) was 37th (27:33), Steve Mackle (Sr., Malvern, OH/HS) was 44th (27:38) and Jon Winnyk (Fr., Strongsville, OH/Holy Name) was 46th (27:41).

Cavs (8-0) at National Catholic Meet

Walsh (8-0) was idle this past week. They return to action on Friday at the National Catholic Meet at Notre Dame in South Bend, IN.

Walsh captured five of the top ten places in breezing to their season opening win at Westminster two weeks ago. Freshman Brendan McKee (Akron, OH/St. V-St. Mary) finished third in a time of 28:26.7 in pacing the Cavs. Josh Rogers (So., Hartville, OH/Lake) was right behind McKee, finishing fourth in a time of (26:29.1). Mike Groholy (So., Parma, OH/Valley Forge) was sixth (28:33.1), Joel Dagenhardt (Sr., Marlington, OH/HS) placed eighth (28:52.0) and Chris Zundel (Jr., Madison, OH/HS) tenth (28:52.0).

"Cavs (8-0) Win Westminster's Fisher Invitational"

Walsh (8-0) opened the season by winning the nine-team Westminster Fisher Invitational. Walsh bested second place Penn State-Behrend by 36 points. The Cavs are idle this week. They return to action on Friday the 16th at the National Catholic Meet at Notre Dame in South Bend, IN.

"Cavs Open at Westminster Invitational"

Walsh opens the season at the Westminster Invitational. Veteran Head Coach Dan McCallion returns 12 letter winners in his 29th year at Walsh. The Cavs also welcome back two seniors.
